Small weirdnesses
Last night when I was at DIE for the birthday of the divine Ms.
icprncs, I had an odd experience. I like my rings to fit a little loosely, but when my hands are cold, they fit of course more loosely, and occasionally I lose one. I was on the dance floor when I felt my celtic knotwork/onyx ring fly off my hand. I had a second to watch it twinkle in the air and to think, "How am I going to find that on the floor?" when it landed in the crook of my elbow and stuck. (I promptly switched it to the other hand where it seemed happier and more likely to stay.)
And last night I had a highly amusing dream. I realized when I tried to explain it to
darkmane that it was such a chronological jumble that it makes no sense in our world, as so many of my dreams turn out to be. But the funniest part does translate: At one point I was mugged in an alley by two young men carrying round baking pans. My friends rescued me, and later someone gave me a flyer for a comedy act featuring, yep, those same two guys. My response was, "You never look at life in quite the same way again once you've been set upon by crockery."
And people think it's weird that sometimes I wake up laughing.
I was planning to make it a quiet Goffee night, but if I feel this good later on, I may make it to the Vogue yet. We shall have to see. As for now, my boss may be coming in late, but she is coming in, so I'd better vamoose.

This could be useful.

Maybe less useful than some, but definitely more ornamental. (This would explain a lot, actually).

I am glad the ring wasn't lost. Anything that goes missing there is swallowed into the vortex of oblivion. (I once lost an earring, of a pair I had been trying to find for 12 years, the very first time I wore it.)
Do baking pans really qualify as "crockery"? Maybe those ceramic French terrine pans...

My wedding ring flew off at one of the early DIEs. With the help of kind bar staff and a flashlight, Sean and I found it--but I know better than to expect that kind of luck again.
P.S. Glad you enjoyed your night out!
