Lights out

We had a power outage last night. Actually we had three or four, in quick succession. I know this because I was up (way too) late reading and had to give up when my bedside lamp poofed for the last time. It was very, very quiet--rather nice, really.

The outage hit our block. I know this because I heard someone outside calling, "The whole block's out." I may have been up too late, but at least I was quiet--although not imparting any useful information.

I'd love to know what happened, but I doubt it was significant enough to be written up in the paper. I do know it was out long enough to foster a large growth of frost icicles in the freezer and wipe out our answering machine message. Since I've been meaning to change it, that's no problem. But I'm wondering if leaving the generic greeting on for a bit might cut down on telemarketing calls. I think I'll find out.

I was up last night at about 4:30 and was watching the news. Seems a car hit a lightpole sometime after 3am in your area. When I saw the news report I actually wondered if it affected you guys.

Cool. Now we both have answers. ;-)

As long as it was back on by morning, I didn't mind too much. A day off with no coffee, no lights, and no stereo/TV wouldn't have made me a happy girl at all. Of course, I'm sure the ice cream is ruined. Ah well.
