Third Place Books has kindly provided me with three used books with which to entertain myself, which is nice because I haven't been in the mood to read most of the ones I already have and the library is being slow with my holds.

I did try to read The Mosquito Coast over the weekend. I started it once years ago but wasn't in the right place to appreciate it. This copy came from the recent book sale at work. I was quite appreciating it this time until I discovered that I had a wacked-out book. Page 118 is followed by page 215. The pages run properly after that until page 246, which is followed by page 151. Everything runs correctly there until the end of the book at page 374, giving me two copies of everything from page 215 on. Everything from page 119 through 150 is simply missing, and those pages seem as though they might be important to the story. :-P

If pages had simply fallen out of the book, I could understand that. But this is just ridiculous.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm doomed to never read The Mosquito Coast.

Well, pages 215-246 is 31 pages, and pages 119-150 is 31 pages... makes me wonder if somewhere there's someone with a copy of this book that's got two sets of pages 119-150 and no 215-246.

It was dandy to see you and Sean last night, especially in a situation where we could actually have a conversation (which I very much enjoyed.) I hope you both had a good time.

I work in the fabric store below. Swing through and give me a smile next time you are in the neighborhood.

(P.S.-- July 11th & 12th, 40% off all used books.)
