Lights out
Apr. 22nd, 2003 01:28 pmWe had a power outage last night. Actually we had three or four, in quick succession. I know this because I was up (way too) late reading and had to give up when my bedside lamp poofed for the last time. It was very, very quiet--rather nice, really.
The outage hit our block. I know this because I heard someone outside calling, "The whole block's out." I may have been up too late, but at least I was quiet--although not imparting any useful information.
I'd love to know what happened, but I doubt it was significant enough to be written up in the paper. I do know it was out long enough to foster a large growth of frost icicles in the freezer and wipe out our answering machine message. Since I've been meaning to change it, that's no problem. But I'm wondering if leaving the generic greeting on for a bit might cut down on telemarketing calls. I think I'll find out.
