Post-election blues

I didn't have a panic attack last night, but perhaps I should have.

Despite all evidence to the contrary, I expected common sense to prevail across the country. I really didn't see this takeover coming, and I still feel a bit numbed by the prospects. It's not just the next two years that concern me--government moves slowly, after all--it's what may follow. Well, there's two years to try to push things in the opposite direction from the current one, I suppose.

I wonder how the war on Iraq will go?

Tell me about it, seeing the election results last night put me in a deep, deep funk. I wanted to cry and could hardly sleep but maybe this will push me to do more work for the ACLU and at least Jim McDermott is still in.
