So I wake up this morning and find out that the country has been turned over to the enemy.

Then I leave work this evening to go get my hair cut, and get stuck in traffic for so long that I miss the appointment. Next I consider skipping my board-related meeting in Shoreline because of the traffic, decide that's irresponsible, and head up there. As I'm pulling into the parking lot, my phone rings and it's Sean, stranded on the side of 520 with no brakes. (Note: He's okay, no harm done.)

I go to rescue him (he's off the last eastside exit), MISS him and have to go across the bridge and back again. By this time the brakes on Christine are again functional. As we're leaving the transit area where he was stopped, I run over something--median, curb, I don't know--I can't see anything in the rain and dark and think I'm following him. Obviously not.

On the way home, Sean hears a story on NPR. The airline on which we were to fly to Dallas for Christmas--National--has gone out of business. Today.

We get home, feed cats, decide to go out to coffee at Aurifice. When we head down to the garage, we see a huge puddle of transmission fluid under the car I was driving--obviously the damage that I did to it tonight.

The car is towed off to the service station and then I realize that my purse is in it, so I have to go to the service station to retrieve it.

Lovely, eh?

Any word yet on how painful repairs are going to be?
