Traditionally, I don't drink it. I'm not sure why I never developed the taste, except maybe that I don't tend to drink what my parents drink. I like bitter drinks, I like clear alcohol, I like the juniper idea. And I'd like to try it again. But it occurs to me I may have to be already-drunk to do it. Maybe I should arrange a drink exchange--if I don't like mine, I can trade it for someone's vodka.

For that matter, what can one mix with gin besides tonic? Although I approve of the cool glowy effect, I don't really imagine it would help me appreciate the gin.

I *hate* *loathe* *despise* *react violently to* gin.

But, the people that I know who have enjoyed it tended to have it in things like martinis, with 7-up, and in orange juice.

You could do go to webtender.com and look up drinks w/ gin til you found one that sounded tasty?

Ohhh yeah. *That* is a website! And I think I found one--gin, blue curacao, midori (like a Neon Freeze but with gin). How could I not like that? (fingers crossed)

Thanks, Grace!

One important thing about gin -- never, *ever* get cheap (well) gin. Always pay extra for the higher quality -- either Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire. More than any other alcohol, good gin is worth the extra cost.

I do enjoy the occasional gin & tonic, and would be happy to let you sample one some time, and/or exchange with you.

Yes, I recall Bryan saying the same thing.

There's still that tonic thing to consider, but I might take you up on that. Funny, I used to drink tonic--just tonic--when I was a kid when my parents had their nightly cocktails. (Gad, how 50's.) I've pretty much avoided it since then. Yeah, I was a weird kid.

I don't like gin either - to me it tastes like the cum of someone who's been smoking a lot.

BUT, my friend Summer SWEARS by gimlets, which are lime juice and gin.
