Favorite apartment rule ever

When we moved into this apartment, our landlady said, "No steam cleaning." Apparently a tenant had left a lot of water in the carpet after attempting to steam clean and made a bigger mess than they'd started with.

So here we are today, expecting at any minute to hear a pounding on the door. "Are you steam cleaning in there?"

"Steam cleaning? Us? No, just vacuuming. Lots and lots of vacuuming. In the same spot. Yep, vacuuming..." (Whispered: "Quick, hide it in the closet!")
