We have attbi broadband internet. I've been waiting for the comcast takeover to start causing us problems (say, like those it caused [livejournal.com profile] oracle2c). Today our attbi.com home page is gone. We still have internet access (obviously) so that's not the problem. Uh oh, here we go.

Hold on tight, folks, this may be a bumpy ride.

What?!?

Ah, hell. I'd heard nothing about this (thanks AT&T!) And they just went and merged my TV cable and Internet bills just a couple of months back.

*sigh* Wasn't going to switch over to Speakeasy DSL until after we finally move; that may change if this goes badly...

At least they found my email and restored it *sigh*. I'm none to happy about the changes.

Sigh......

You're allowed to run your own email server on a cable modem? I'm surprised. Or is it just that you're not informing them?

Of course I'm not informing them.

I'm not supposed to run any form of server

including

Terminal Server
SQL Server
Web Server
Any form of File sharing

Oh well, they haven't given me a transfer quota, I'm not saturating my connection, I'll abuse the system as long as I can get away with it.

Yeah, well, it's not like a mailserver is gonna eat up much bandwidth unless you're running a spamfactory. I'm not sure how one would go about getting a stable domain name for a (theoretically at least) dynamic IP address, but other than that I can't imagine any problems.
