We've been getting an Esquire subscription for several months, for no apparent reason, and mostly ignoring it. But today one came, and in my endless search for ways to amuse myself, I took a look at it. And it's not nearly as bad as I expected. Some of the writing is actually quite intelligent. The most objectionable parts are the ones aimed squarely at the mainstream demographic--or what that's perceived to be--and that's apparent in a heck of a lot of magazines aimed at both or neither gender.

I'm finding this all quite disturbing.
