Starbucks is buying SBC and Torrefazione.

So this gives me 90 days to stockpile my Torrefazione Palermo Blend before I'm supporting Starbucks if I buy it. Pbbbbbt.

I don't support Tully's, specifically, because of their political contributions, but I'm really miffed about SBC, since that's been a Vashon employer and landmark for years now.

Guess maybe I'll have to stick to drinking the Monks' coffee

Well, it's not like supporting AFC Enterprises was that much better (most of those big congloms are pretty much the same); but it is certainly disappointing. Aside from losing the Vashon offices (dunno how likely that is yet); it means that it just got that much harder to find good, unburnt coffee.

This sucks big hairy ass. I love Torrefazione (hell, I love just *saying* "Torrefazione," with faux-Italian hand gestures, of course) and SBC wasn't bad either... and since I don't like Tully's, I guess I'll be spending my coffee allowance at Bauhaus, until those Starbucks bastards decide to buy up Cafe Trieste as well...

Sheesh, pretty soon it will impossible to get a decent latte in Seattle... who'da guessed. Sad.
